Blog Journal #3

Copyright can be described as protecting the use of your creative or intellectual work unless given permission from the creator themselves. Fair use is when a consumer is able to defend how they are using such work and perhaps give credit to the creator. For example, if you are using materials for nonprofit educational reasons, you may not be infringing on copyright policies. As a future teacher, when I develop my instructional materials I will credit all accessed materials and reach out for permission to use their work in an educational manner. I will encourage my students to follow suit.

Technology can be difficult to implement in an honest and educational manner. For example, academic dishonesty happens all too frequently in classroom settings due to students wanting the “easy way out”. To combat this issue, I will give students ample resources and opportunities to support the material that is taught in class. There will be fair consequences for academic dishonesty. Another technology implementation issue is cyberbullying, as students can use their internet tools for the wrong reasons at times. I will iterate a no toleration rule for bullying in the classroom and online and give students a chance to engage in open dialogue about what bullying can look like and why it is detrimental.

While working on the Newsletter Design assignment, I was challenged to think about who my audience was and what message I wanted to convey. I realized that my audience was the parents and I wanted them to be informed about what is to come for their students in my class. I built upon my skills to effectively and concisely communicate, organize, and make the layout appealing to the eye. The skills I learned from this assignment will be very helpful in my future career as I will have to find engaging ways to pass the information on to students and their parents.
