Blog Journal #5
My first experience with Twitter was about seven years ago when I was in middle school and a friend of mine was scrolling on the app. She showed me the entertaining jokes and internet memes at the time and I found the app to be very engaging. When I created my own Twitter I used it to keep up to date on current events and connect with friends. Twitter may be helpful in my future career because it is very easy to find like-minded individuals by searching for specific hashtags and topics.
The digital divide is an issue that may go overlooked by the education system for both teachers and students. Being tech-savvy is a skill that is essential in the current times we are in. The digital divide can affect students’ success in school because they may fall behind due to a lack of technical knowledge. The digital divide can be caused by an individual’s environment and the amount of access to technology, as not everyone uses digital devices often. As a teacher, it will be important to have the patience to work with students at every technological level and teach them how to navigate the tools they are unsure about.
Academic software allows students to have various tools to turn to while learning new information in their classroom. For example, having academic communications software is helpful because students can use this as a resource to ask questions and collaborate on topics they aren’t quite grasping. Another software tool I would implement in my future classroom is a class page, which will be the home to all notes from class and supplemental pieces. These two software tools can boost the quality of education in a classroom as students will feel plenty of support.
