Blog Journal #7

The school website I selected is Britt David Elementary located in Columbus, Georgia. On this site, we can publicly access the school calendar, staff and faculty emails, the parent/student handbook, and more. This school website does not list links to class pages made by teachers, as they may be given privately to parents and students. This website is easy to navigate and organized well for all age ranges to utilize.

I envision myself using technology to pass the information on to parents and students, such as upcoming assignments and events. Some specific productivity tools I would use are calendars and reminder systems. I would also input the class policies on the website so that parents and students can refer to them at any time. Finally, adding resources for supplemental help at home will be beneficial for students to complete homework assignments.

Wiki platforms allow for full creative control with many customization features.

Wiki platforms are perfect for teachers to create a class website as you can create multiple pages and add links to other resources. For future K-12 students, I’d use a wiki to relay information about upcoming assignments, homework, and tests. The wiki would also include a calendar with our course schedule and resources that can aid students with assignments.
