Our latest assignment, “PowerPoint Interaction” allowed me to practice my skills utilizing PowerPoint. I learned new skills such as how to use a hyperlink within the slide show and create interactive buttons for navigating from slide to slide. I liked that I was given creative freedom on what topic I’d like to create an interactive slideshow about. There isn’t anything that I specifically didn’t like about this assignment.  I will use data collection tools, such as anonymous surveys, as a teacher to gauge how my students are feeling about the material, gain suggestions and insight on their perspective of the classroom, and ask for opinions about classroom structure. For example, as a 3rd-grade science teacher, I could use an anonymous survey after the first test to find out how students felt about the material and what I can do to help their performance improve. Using anonymous surveys allows students to be completely honest without worrying about their identity being shared...

My experiences in EME2040 have been very informational as it has given me a chance to be hands-on with online teaching tools and resources. My section is asynchronous, which allows me to create a schedule that works for me for weekly readings and completing tasks. I like that this classroom experience is a mix of independence and collaboration with fellow classmates. There is not anything I particularly dislike about my experience in the EME2040 class. When I am a teacher, to improve classroom experience I would utilize anonymous surveys to gauge my student's opinions on how the class is going so we can adapt to everyone’s preferences. Open educational resources are an amazing tool for educators to find resources that give specific permission to be used in all capacities. These resources can be edited, shared, and revised, which is a great feature for collaborating with fellow instructors.   The Web Design assignment allowed me to practice skills such as website organization, formatting, and word choice. I used critical thinking skills to create a website that is organized in a way that a parent or student would be able to navigate with ease. The format of each page was important as I had required information that needed to be on each page such as photos and links to resources. I enjoyed writing from a teacher's perspective with the main purpose of informing the audience that would utilize the website. In my future career as a teacher, I will be able to use this practice of creating a website to know what information would be helpful for parents and students to have online access to. https://serenityheadleyeme2040spring2023.weebly.com/       Diigo is a great platform for sharing articles in an academic setting. This application allows you to annotate, bookmark, and add sticky notes to websites and creates a thread or blog of your communities con...

The school website I selected is Britt David Elementary located in Columbus, Georgia. On this site, we can publicly access the school calendar, staff and faculty emails, the parent/student handbook, and more. This school website does not list links to class pages made by teachers, as they may be given privately to parents and students. This website is easy to navigate and organized well for all age ranges to utilize. https://brittdavid.wixsite.com/brittdavid I envision myself using technology to pass the information on to parents and students, such as upcoming assignments and events. Some specific productivity tools I would use are calendars and reminder systems. I would also input the class policies on the website so that parents and students can refer to them at any time. Finally, adding resources for supplemental help at home will be beneficial for students to complete homework assignments. Wiki platforms allow for full creative control with many customization features.  ...

My initial experiences using Diigo were pleasant! Firstly, I watched a provided tutorial on how to navigate the website. I also read over the expectations of the assignment so I knew exactly what I was required to do. Diigo is a great way to build a community and share information as well as thoughts on the pieces. I like that Diigo is easy to use and gives freedom to the user to bookmark or annotate any website they desire. I enjoy using the blog as a way to critically think about the topics we work on in this course. Blogging is a concise method to get all your ideas in one place and be able to look back at them with ease. Blogging in an academic setting is helpful for students as they are able to view their peer's blogs and collaborate or discuss similar and differing viewpoints. I have practiced how to properly put my thoughts into words with the help of blogging. An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I would use when teaching is Packback ( https://www.packback.co...

My first experience with Twitter was about seven years ago when I was in middle school and a friend of mine was scrolling on the app. She showed me the entertaining jokes and internet memes at the time and I found the app to be very engaging. When I created my own Twitter I used it to keep up to date on current events and connect with friends. Twitter may be helpful in my future career because it is very easy to find like-minded individuals by searching for specific hashtags and topics. The digital divide is an issue that may go overlooked by the education system for both teachers and students. Being tech-savvy is a skill that is essential in the current times we are in. The digital divide can affect students’ success in school because they may fall behind due to a lack of technical knowledge. The digital divide can be caused by an individual’s environment and the amount of access to technology, as not everyone uses digital devices often. As a teacher, it will be important to hav...

ELA technology standards are put in place to aid in progressing and protecting the knowledge obtained by students in schools. One of the standards listed under grades 9-12 is benchmark code SC.912.CS-PC.1.3, states, “Evaluate the impacts of the irresponsible use of information (e.g., plagiarism and falsification of data) on collaborative projects.” This is an imperative requirement to teach current and future students, as it informs them of how to properly cite information and do thorough fact-checking. I do feel prepared to implement this standard based on my current skill set because I can utilize tools such as Turnitin.com to sift out plagiarised content. I also can convey to students how to correctly cite their sources when they need to give credit.      CPALMS is an amazing educator toolkit with a variety of instructor resources. I chose to review a sixth-grade interactive lesson plan that informs students about context clues. I would use this res...
